Acer aspire, No sound in Ubuntu or LinuxMint Daryna 4.0

Postby dantata on Mon Jan 28, 2008 9:14 am

I recently migrated from vista to ubuntu and had a sound problem. Due to the graphical aspect i like about ubuntu, and with the little difference to LinuxMint, i format & installed daryna 4.0.

Funny thing is i still have no sound and the music appears to be playing but no sound. My laptop is an Acer aspire 5710. sound card should be realtek or so.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Check all settings for sound
Double click the volume control next to the clock and check that nothing is set to mute
Some laptops have a sound switch that is a mix of hard- and software, so check for switches

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

I previously restored my PC back to vista as everything was working, but i'm not happy with it at all. so i have format the PC again, fresh installed daryna on the ACER, cross checked the switches as u said it was no progress.

N.B i also tried out some troubleshooting from the UBUNTU website on how to solve the audio problem with ACER 5710 sound card uptill now there is no sound on the laptop!

Have you tried this?
Code: Select all
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

add to the end
Code: Select all
options snd-hda-intel model = toshiba

Or read these?
