PS3 sixaxis controller issues

Postby dbbolton on Thu Mar 01, 2012 7:09 pm

I'm trying to use a Playstation 3 (PS3) Sixaxis controller as a joystick for various games on my laptop. I have connected in through USB and it seems to be registering properly
Code: Select all
[  167.376091] usb 7-1: new full speed USB device number 2 using uhci_hcd
[  167.880877] usbcore: registered new interface driver usbhid
[  167.880885] usbhid: USB HID core driver
[  167.961257] input: Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.1/usb7/7-1/7-1:1.0/input/input15
[  167.962845] sony 0003:054C:0268.0001: input,hiddev0,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Joystick [Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller] on usb-0000:00:1d.1-1/input0

And the right drivers seem to be loaded, according to lsmod
Code: Select all
usbhid                 47198  0
hid                    95463  2 hid_sony,usbhid

and lsusb
Code: Select all
Bus 007 Device 002: ID 054c:0268 Sony Corp. Batoh Device / PlayStation 3 Controller

I pressed the PS button to make sure it was on, but it doesn't seem to register with any emulators. I've tried fceux, mednafen, and desmume. Not only does the controller do nothing in the game, but when I go to configure the gamepad, the programs act as though they aren't getting any input at all.

I've tried running xev and hitting buttons on the controller, but nothing shows up. The controller I'm using works fine with a PS3.

I've tried rebooting, and just as I suspected, that didn't do anything. Any other suggestions are welcome.
