nvidia problem after update solved

hello all,

i use mint darina
grafic mode is not up after yesterday's update.
i let system install all updates it suggested, and i got couple unreadable screens today at booting. And this message in the end:

FATAL: Could not open '/Lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/volatile/nvidia.ko
(EE) Nvidia(0): Failed to load the nvidia kernel module!
(EE) Nvidia: ***adorting***
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

after that command line is available.

so far i understand i should reconfigure some file(s) ?

i use Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP8X

This "should" not have happened
Try this

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

After that I think it works again
If not perhaps the simplest way is to boot into "recovery mode" and take care you are root
If you have an internet connection here - start Envy
Reboot when ready
If not
Then edit xorg.conf
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Change driver in Section "Device" to "vesa"
Reboot
When you have booted normally start Envy

what did you do?

i did this: sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

but in effect i lost russian layout i cant switch in russian on keyboard as usual : Alt+Shift
and no other hot key is working. by clicking on language ikon in tray i get option keyboard layout gray - not available.
hmmm

btw videocard is workin a little bit slower that before.
may be i should run ENVY and reinstall nvidia driver?

A fresh driver install may be good
Use the latest version of envy - check it's home page

Also check the backup of xorg.conf (at least I think that a backup was made) for your other problems
