Internal Mic issues - loud feedback?

So ive tried suggestions on this thread -http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=74288

But none seem to work. I have a gateway nv79c52u, running mint 12-RC. The internal mic kinda works, if i record something on audacity i can hear myself but i hear a lound SHHHHHHHHHH with what i say, Ive tried adjusting every single thing on alsamixer, pulse etc.. and it still does it.

I also tried using gmails voice chat and they can never hear me on that. Not sure what the deal is with that either.

Any help?
