I'm using Linux Mint 14 Nadia Cinnamon.
With the graphical login via mdm, a USB storage device plugged in is automounted as the user logged in (under /media/$USER/whatever-name-of-device) and hence can be umounted *without* root previlege. When I switch to console mode login (mdm disabled via bum) and use startx to start the X server, it's *not* automounted anymore. No other change is made. My .xinitrc is simply
# ~/.xinitrc - Start cinnamon using startx
exec gnome-session-cinnamon "$@"
What should I do to get back the same behaviour? I would also like to understand what's under the hood that mdm (or whatever is run) is doing ...
Thanks in advance for your help.
