Can't mount a USB HDD.

Postby Morgan Krieg on Thu Nov 14, 2013 9:12 pm

I bought an external HDD case - Maxtor Personal Storage 3000LS. I put into it my WD800BB-0JHC0 HDD into it and when I connect it to my computer, it doesn't get mounted.

When I write dmesg | tail, I get the following result:

Code: Select all
[ 1457.231879] usb 1-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
[ 1457.325034] scsi7 : usb-storage 1-1.2:1.0
[ 1479.654300] usb 1-1.2: reset high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
[ 1489.792370] usb 1-1.2: reset high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
[ 1494.943097] usb 1-1.2: reset high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
[ 1505.081170] usb 1-1.2: reset high-speed USB device number 5 using ehci_hcd
[ 1505.173560] scsi 7:0:0:0: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery

I also tried it with another disk - WD400BB-0JHC0 and with 3 different USB cables and the results were the same.

Does anyone know how to make it work?
