Mint 14 can not find NTFS disk.

Postby roby02091987 on Wed Jan 16, 2013 12:34 pm

Hello everybody!

I've a problem with mint 14 KDE.
In few words, it can not see or find one NTFS disk.
Well, the storage situation of my pc is a bit complicated, i'll try to explain:
I've a total of five disks:

-One of 300gb is reserved for Mint 14, it has only a ext4 partition with mint and a swap space.

- The other four disks are of 500gb each and are organized in two fakeraid disks.

The first fakeraid disk is a raid 0 array of 500gb that uses all the four disks. This disk is divided into two partitions, one of 50Gb for win 8 and the remaining space for programs and games.
The second fakeraid is a raid 10 that uses all the free space left by the raid 0 (about 700gb, I can't remember exactly) that is used for storage.

Well, the problem is... i have full access to the raid 0 this and its partitions (i can read and write on them without any problem), but the raid 10 disk is... as if it does not exist.

Even fdisk -l does not see it:

Questa non sembra una tabella delle partizioni.
Probabilmente è stato scelto il dispositivo sbagliato.

Le voci nella tabella delle partizioni non sono nello stesso ordine del disco

But on windows all works flawlessly, here's a screenshot of winows disk manager:

The disk I can't find on mint is the one labeled "disco 1" or "volume F:".

Well, the question is: is there a way to let mint read and write on that radi 10 disk? Or at least see it in fdisk -l ?

Thanks in advance

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Does the drive show up if you try parted -l

Code: Select all
sudo parted -l

Also, does it show in the motherboard BIOS of the machine?
