Shared SMB drive - how to mount in filesystem?

Post by barefoot »

I keep all my documents on a separate machine (running ClarkConnect - a specialised router/server Linux).

I can access my "shared" partition on the server from my Mint box - I can't remember how I set it up, but it must have been easy because I managed :-P

So in Nautilus, the "tree" includes an icon called "shared", which contains all my docs. Its properties dialog says that the location is "smb://ClarkConnect_box".

BUT most applications can only "see" local files; if I want to use a file on the server, I must use Nautilus to copy it to my home directory, then I can use it. That's unacceptable.

How can I mount this "shared" folder, or link to it or whatever under ./shared ... or something like that?

Thanks,
tim

Have you installed samba?
If not Mint uses fusesmb, look in mintDesktop
You should have a line in mtab like this
fusesmb /home/your_user_name/Network fuse rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,max_read=32768 0 0
