errors with mint13mate32 and brother printer [fixed]

I've been running 32 bit Mint since version 3 and my printer is a Brother MFC-8460N
and have upgraded to every version every 6 months
Never had a problem with printing until Mint13Mate
The default 600 DPI prining now causes memory overflow errors however I can print using 300 DPI
Can't print any PDF files;; get memoryfull errors.
Seems that my PC now transmits excessive amounys of data to the printer

My wife's PC is running mint12 and all is well using the same printer.
Anyone have any ideas why mint13 wont work the same with my Brother printer?

I downloaded the MFC8460N.ppd file from http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/download_prn.html
and installed it in /usr/share/cups/model/MFC8460N.ppd
Then used the PPD file instead of the default network driver
My Brother printer has never printed this fast

You are not the first to have printing issues with Mint13/Ubuntu12.04. It's sort of looking like the CUPS version 1.5.x has issues. I'm not sure what to suggest except going back to Mint 12 or waiting for a fix. I looked into installing CUPS 1.4.6 (Mint 12's version) on Ubuntu 12.04 but that looks well beyond my abilities. I have a couple older Brother printers which work okay with the current Mint version but one new one which has issues printing html text.

Thanks for the reply, Kurt. Yesterday I found this on another forum site http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1967725&page=5 : "CUPS 1.5.3 is now in proposed release status for [ubuntu]Precise" - hope this solves the problem for all.
I'm still able to print all my documents via another networked PC on my home netwrk running mint12.
