itsme4401 wrote:@ Android_Lee: does not apply. Canon has Linuxdrivers for a lot of its own printers. My MP640 & ip4700 are amongst those that are drivers provided for.
@HappyLinux: here is another PPA:http://ubuntuportal.com/2011/12/how-to-install-canon-printer-driver-for-linux-ubuntu.html

sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-common_3.00-1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-ip4700series_3.00-1_i386.deb

sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-ip4700series_3.20-1_i386.deb
itsme4401 wrote:Oké, so the code becomes:
- Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-common_3.20-1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture cnijfilter-ip4700series_3.20-1_i386.deb

cnijfilter-iP4700...depend on cnijfilter-common...however ...-common... is not configured yet

itsme4401 wrote:If the .. common.deb wants extra libs, which I seem to read from your terminal too, you have to install those (by terminal) first.
Additional remark: I guess that's the problem: on my own system I have libpopt0 1.16-3ubuntu & I don't know if that ubuntuversion fullfils the requested versiondemands by Canon. Try to find the older downloads/versions on the internet for the Canonprinter, they might work.

Sorry that's all I can do for you as I'm a noob and having printer problems myself.
