Brother HL-2170W Laser Monochrome

I Upgraded from MINT 12 to MINT13 Maya, and can NO longer get my Networked Brother Laser Printer to respond printing a Test Page.
Mint 13 correctly finds the correct Network Printer Series: HL-2270DW but NOT the correct Printer within that series.

When I search by IP address for a Printer, MINT13 finds "Generic text-only printer" with a "local host" IP address.
If I just "Add a Printer", MINT13 finds "Generic PCL 6/PCL XL printer" and an IP address of "BRN001BA992816D"!
(My Brother Monochrome Laser Printer model number is BRW0022587E11CE with an IP address of 192.168.1.42)

Can someone please explain to me what I have to do to get the correct model Brother Monochrome Laser Network Printer to work again as it did in MINT12?

Could you share a bit more information specifically as to what to enter and where, to get your Network Brother HL-2270DW Laser Printer to work with MINT13 Maya?
As I said in my original POST, using the "Add a Printer" tool in MINT13 under System Settings / Printers, wont allow me to select anything other than what it detects by itself!

Use to be in MINT`s past, you could enter or select from a large group of Printer brands and models with associated drivers for at least an attempt at success.

I am unclear as to the meaning of your POST reply: "dnssd://Brother%20HL-2170W%20series._pr ... tcp.local/" could you elaborate for this relative "NEWBIE"

The settings I listed came directly from Mint Control Center Printing. Click add printer then give the system time to search connections. Depending on your system speed perhaps 10 seconds up to a minute.

Next under Select Device pick network printer. Your 2170W should now appear. Very possible to find nothing listed if you didn't give your system enough time to search.

Thanks for your replies, however as I stated in my original Mint post, I am using Mint 13 (Gnome Classic ) and under System Tools/ System Settings/ Printers/ Add New Printer/ Network, after Mint 13 searches, it always comes back with two selections, both of which are labeled *HL-2270DW-series* !!

If I *ADD* the first HL-2270DW-series selection, it comes back "Ready", with Model: Generic text only printer and IP Address: localhost, with NO response when printing a Test Page!

If I *ADD* the second HL-2270DW-series selection, it comes back "Ready", with Model: Generic PCL 6/PCL XL Printer and IP Address: BRN001BA992816BD
When I attempt to print a Test Page, Job State says "Processing" with Time 13:17 but with NO actual Printing ever occurring !

If I check the "Search by address"(192.168.1.42) box, it comes back with the first series selection again. Printing a Test Page indicates "Job State" Pending and Time 13:17 but with NO actual Printing ever occurring!

I am at a loss as to how to change anything that MINT13 is automatically detecting? Can you advise as to how you got our identical Brother HL-2270DW Laser Printer and MINT13 to work together?

Try using the ppd file from Open Printing.

I have a brother monochrome laser HL2240D. It works fine with the driver brother DCP-1200 Foofatic/h1 1250.
