Unknown job: lpd [RESOLVED]

Post by Lolinder »

I've already ensured that lpr is installed, but every time I try to install the LPR driver for my Brother HL-2270, I get this:

Code: Select all

$ sudo dpkg -i --force-all hl2270dw.deb
(Reading database ... 176886 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace hl2270dwlpr 2.1.0-1 (using hl2270dw.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement hl2270dwlpr ...
initctl: Unknown job: lpd
Setting up hl2270dwlpr (2.1.0-1) ...
initctl: Unknown job: lpd

There must have been a typo in this command when I ran through the steps on this thread:

Code: Select all

ln -s /etc/init.d/cups /etc/init.d/lpd
I ran it again with the -f flag, and it now works. :)
