Epson 102 printer, has drivers but doesnt print

Hi, I;m a bit of a newbie but I've done several searches and cant find an answer for the issue im having with my Epson xp102 printer. When i initially plugged the printer in via usb mint seemed to find and installed the correct drivers (xp-102-103 series), however when i try to print it seems to go through the process of sending to the printer but nothing prints. I do not receive an error message and there is nothing in the print queue. I have tried printing from the "test page" option as well as from browser and text doc.
I'm running Mint 14 cinnamon (32bit) on a Dell inspiron 1520, duel booting with windows 8.
