Hplip not working.

Hi I have a Hp Officejet 4500 Desktop printer.

O/s: Linux mint 64 bit.

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite 850.

While I am new to Mint I have been ussing Ubuntu for years. Recently I installed Mint and the printer worked well. After some updates something broke.
Hplip does not see the printer neither does it show up when I run lsusb. I have searched for days and tried many things. Does anyone know how to get the printer working?
I tried my old F200 Hp printer but that does not work either. Both work under other o/s.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong cable plugged in. Worked out of the box.
