Can't find drivers for Xerox Phaser 3125

Post by barcinka »

When trying to add a network printer I got to "Search for drivers" section. Selected Xerox, went forward and searched there. There was no option for Phaser 3125, the last one listed from this series was 3124. Tried to run it with those drivers, but unsuccessfully. Also tried several others and read the post about drivers for 3124 and 6100 not working (they were using Samsung drivers) but didn't work.

System specifications: Linux Mint 14 32-bit Cinnamon.

Hello,

Unfortunately that machine is not compatible with Linux operating system. It’s only compatible with Windows and Mac OS. More information about drivers for this device can be found here:

Thank you,

so barcinka; no specific driver the good lady from Xerox tells you;

however OpenPrinting is a good source of information for printing in linux

if you go to the Xerox page,

http://www.openprinting.org/printers/manufacturer/Xerox

there is a huge number of phasers and they are recorded as working perfectly or nearly;

this page

http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Xer ... aser_3250D

had a comment
For me it worked perfectly extracting the PPD from Windows PS driver. Mine is a 3250DN but the PPD seems to be for all Phaser 3250: 3250, 3250D, 3250DN
so if you found the ppd file from the windows package;

and installed a new printer in CUPS; pointing it to the ppd driver that is usually saved in /usr/share/ppd/ ........that would likely work for you
