You have some problem using Google Third hit on Google search for that: https://sites.google.com/site/thehopefu ... ixma-mp210
Re: Driver for Pixma MP210 required.
Xenopeek has pointed you in exactly the right direction; he is the real expert on these things but the Canon Australia site seems to have got rid of some older drivers: so what you want doesn't seem to be there; Canon only supplied 32bit drivers in 2007 when the device was first sold;
Canon Europe seem to have a copy http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer ... e=download
and what you download is MP210_debian.tar and if you download and save it (it should end up in your Downloads directory)
are you happy to copy and paste some commands into a terminal? and hit the enter key after each paste .. (use the menu at the top and use the mouse )
if you then restart CUPS with

cd Downloads
tar -xvf MP210_debian.tar
sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-common_2.80-1_i386.deb
that should install the driver;sudo dpkg -i cnijfilter-mp210series_2.80-1_i386.deb

can you print now? (the above will only work with a 32bit system)sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart

Thanks for the detail pdc.
We did that, but got stuck at the third entry into terminal. Please see the link to the screenshot below.

Re: Driver for Pixma MP210 required.
Hi Brian; I see this printer is 7 years old; so it predates the GFC; and lots have changed since then;
so it is saying
libcupsys2 morphed into libcups2 ; it is installed our Mint: you may well have it on yours;
the problem is: the debian package is designed to be helpful; so it tells the system (assuming we are in 2007) what it needs; and where to get them;
now: some of these packages have been superseded; as per here; http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1273363
I can attempt a rebuild of the package for you if you want; if you send me a PM (jprivate message) on the forum and we can exchange emails; I don't think I can post an edited file here on the forum
I think gutenprint might well work:

I didn't get any PM messages Brian
a Michael Gruz maintains a repository of Canon drivers; I suspect he may edit the older ones; (so they don't look for outdated packages);
the advice from here is http://www.iheartubuntu.com/2012/02/ins ... linux.html first unplug your printer
then
the commands to use his system are:
The printer ready to use!

Re: Driver for Pixma MP210 required.
so you have got gutenprint installed; and it does not work; if you can stump up the cash, the 2100 series from canon is on sale in many countries at about $US40 or so; it installs easily and well; we have one of the 3100 series and it does duplex
