Network (LAN) Scanner - Canon MF5940dn

Post by Janfernost »

Hi all,

running Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon 64-bit.

Connected my Canon MF5940dn device through a switch to my LAN network.

Installed "g13b8en_lindeb64_0206.deb" (CQue - Driver for Canon iR, CLC, LPB and MF laser devices) and after setup the printer now works very well.

Then I installed XSane for scanning, but at start-up it returns "no devices available", same as for Simple Scan. I can not find a setup dialogue to add the device...

I have no idea on how to approach this, please point out the necessary steps or direct me to a tutorial or such. I had a good look and cannot find anything helpful.

Many thanks in advance!

this may help you

http://askubuntu.com/questions/200915/h ... rk-scanner

and this

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Scann ... _a_Network

may give some background

SANE lists Canon devices http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-CANON and in general they work

however the ID of the device would be helpful: for a usb cable one would type
lsusb
and yours would be 04a9 for Canon and then a model ID
