I installed Mint 17 Cinnamon on my notebook and I am having problems with installing a driver for my Epson Stylus DX 5050 printer via System Settings control center. The problem is that the installation hangs, sometimes half way trough the installation and sometimes even before I get asked for my password. I used the same printer before after installing the driver the same way on Mint 14 and Mint 16.
Can someone help me out, please?

Re: Printer driver installation hangs
Right... so, I found the driver, downloaded it, installed it using GDebi and now what? I went back to System Settings, clicked on Add Printer, selected my printer and clicked on Local Driver when asked to select the driver. Nothing is happening. I got that circle thingy instead of the cursor going round and round on the New Printer window, but nothing is happening. Am I doing something wrong?

Re: Printer driver installation hangs
With my epson xp-200 i had to add the lsb package first or else i got dependency problems when installing my printer driver.
sudo apt-get install lsb --install-recommends
After that you should be able to download the driver when adding the printer.

Re: Printer driver installation hangs (solved)
Thanks for the advice, but I just tried to add printer again using System Settings control center after fixing an issue with libjpeg62:i386 package I had posted in this topic: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=169297
It installed itself without any problems, so I hope that is the solution to that problem. Either that or the problem solved itself.
Thanks anyway

Re: Printer driver installation hangs (solved)
I had the same problem with Linux Mint 17.1 and my Epson XP-810. The printer drivers were installed on another computer that runs Ubuntu. And the printer works with Ubuntu.
On my Mint computer, I tried
However, nothing was changed. I discovered an error message saying that package dkpg-dev was 'half-installed'
So I did
On my Mint computer, I tried
as suggested earlier here.sudo apt-get install lsb --install-recommends

So I did
followed bysudo apt-get install dpkg-dev --reinstall
and now my Epson XP-810 works perfectly with Linux Mint.sudo apt-get install lsb --install-recommends
