Trying to get my Brother HL-2280dw printer to work wirelessly when I go into CUPS to manage my printer it won't accept my user name and password. I had Mint 14 and don't recall having this much trouble, now running Mint 17.....Mint will print ok if connected via USB just can't find where to put the ip address.

Whew! I got my printer working, I don't remember Mint 14 being as hard. I still can't modify printers is localhost:631 as it does not like my user name/password.... any help would be appreciated

I haven't looked into this much; we did find root as the username and then our sudo password .............as the password............worked

does your sudo password for you in the terminal when needed?

you need to add yourself as cups user and depending on the version of cups "it doesn't like some names or passwords"

Yes in terminal it worked fine, that's how I installed my printer drivers

Awesome I will try this.....Thanks....edited my user profile added cups to my group and bingo! That did the trick, thanks again!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, if you go to system settings/administration/users and groups there you can select groups and add cups....
