Unsupported Scanner Installation

Post by rwright88 »

Hello Board,

This is my first post, so please go easy. I have been using Linux Mint for the last few months, and I am pleasantly surprised with it, and some of the issues I was able to overcome with forum information, etc. I have a Dell C1765nfw all-in-one printer that i am trying to get working. The printing features work; the scanning does not. I have worked through different solutions using sane and xsane, but this printer is not listed. Is there a suggested methodology for working to try to get a scanner working that is not listed, or are there generic drivers that can be used?

Output of inxi -Fxz

Any help (or an update to let me know that trying to get this to work will be fruitless) would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

well - if the scanner was from the big four:
- Brother
- Cannon
- Epson
- HP

then you could stand a chance of getting the scanner to work. ..

but- you have a Dell. .. ..

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2168124

- most other sites only show the printer is working, & not the scanner.
