Epson XP-301

Post by paulcfox »

I recently installed Mint on an HP Pavilion g4. Everything is fine except the Epson XP-310 wireless printer. The printer is recognized, but just spits out a blank page when I send something to be printed (and yes, it has ink). I installed the driver recommended on the OpenDriver website -- the install was 'successful' but the problem remains.

Anybody have an idea what to do next? Besides buying a different printer?

Unfortunately you do not state the name of the printer driver.

The usual procedure is to get the driver from the manufacturer:

If it is a wireless setup you will need the network-plugin. To get the scanner to work you will need the 2 scanner drivers and observe the appropriate sequence to install them.

There is no need to buy a different printer - Epson provides Linux drivers.

Make sure that you download the drivers fit for your architecture - 32bit or 64bit.

Have you selected your printer in System Settings > Hardware > Printers ?
Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon

Try temporarily disabling your firewall:

Code: Select all

sudo ufw disable
If your printer works then you can add a firewall exception rule.

Re-enable your firewall by:

Code: Select all

sudo ufw enable
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.
