[CLOSED NOT SOLVED] Problems with HP Officejet 6500A E710n-z

OS: Mint 17.1
fully updated.
HPLIP : 3.14.10

printer installs just fine, setup printer and fax options no problems
can scan with simple scan and xsane no issue
can fax as well.

the problem is that except for most PDF documents I can not print most of the things I need to print.
most PDF docs print ok
but anything else generates an error on the printer saying that paper size is wrong and only option is to cancel the job.
anybody knows how to fix this and why this might be the case.

if I print to PDF and than open and print resulting PDF file 99% of a time it works ok, but it is insane to do double work and WAF(Wife Acceptance Factor) is -10


EDIT:
as it turns out it was the printer (Hardware) issue. so I got a new printer.

Do you know how to open a terminal to run those commands?

yes, I maybe a noob but not that of a noob I know how to open terminal and run commands.
it's what command to run is the problem...

ok as it was suggested, I read all the troubleshooting docs I could find
I run the commands suggested by pdc_2
all checks out OK no errors or warning.
no similar issues found in help or FAQs

I loaded HPLIP 3.14.10

still can not print properly.
some things printing OK most trigger wrong paper size error on the printer.

any more sugestions please help
