There is a package mtink in synaptic. There is also a command line tool called escputil.

No that is the problem I have had with Mtink. It does not display my Machine on the list.
If you open synaptic and download the other file I mentioned escputil and in a terminal enter it will show the percentages of ink.
This assumes the printer is usb connected.
