SOLVED: HP Photosmart C4580 all-in-one No Device Found

In CUPS I have set up this printer via USB and it does print.
Have latest HPLIP and packages associated with it.

This puzzles me though.
Ran hp-setup as root.
Also right clicked HPLIP Status Server icon in task tray which apparently does the same thing, so I assume I don't need this package/icon.
Both keep saying "No Installation HP Device Found".

Scanner Utility says no device found so I can't use the scanner.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You say you have latest package - do you mean from the hplip website or repos ?
The latest on the website is 3.9.2 and it does state not to install as sudo/root - http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/downloads.html
There is good info on this website. I have a C5280 running with 2.8.10 and everything is fine. You do have sane installed I suppose ?

Thanks. You were correct.
I should have followed the directions on the HP Linux printing site. Feel a little dumb.
It took some time in terminal but everything works like a charm, including the scanner.
