Lexmark Z1300 Driver needed (or something that will work)

Postby coraje on Wed Apr 20, 2011 8:52 pm

I got this LExmark z1300 printer from a family member and my driver isn't listed when I set it up. Is their possibly a free alternative driver or another driver in the list I Can use???

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Have a similar issue. Consensus among better educated linux mint users, that lexmark printers are usually good as paper weights where linux is concerned. Big internet though ... could be poss to find a driver for it somewhere. Couldn't tell you where though or whether you'd be able to trust it. etc.

Guess in the grand scheme of things printers are often dirt cheap. You could check around the forums for a printer manufacturer that's known to be linux friendly and then hit craigslist or so forth. Pick one up for a couple bucks. Maybe a free cycling site if you are really hard pressed for cash.

About all I can think of to try to help ya out.

There is a post here that seemms to help alot of peeps, and watching the thread progress it seems that 2 specific drivers rise to the top for the oddballs not listed.

Thanks hemimaniac,

Will definitely read through it when time allows. Though ... not overly concerned. Have access to other printers. If I have to get another printer to work with this OS. Not a big price to pay for Mint for sure.

The minty freshness !!! Oh the minty freshess !! Thanks for taking the time to point me/people to poss solutions though. I was scratching my head trying to think of places to look. Talked to lexmark website support chat. They said they do make drivers for some of their products specifically for linux. But o course not the dinosaur printer sitting here, lol. It's z series too OP, all-in-one blahblah.

:D
