Wireless Switch Doesn't Turn Wifi Back On

Postby A Future Pilot on Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:33 pm

I've installed linux on my girlfriend's computer, and initially the wireless wasn't working at all. I discovered by blacklisting the acer_wmi module, the wireless will work. However whenever she turns off the wireless by using either the physical switch on the side of the laptop, or the virtual switch from the menu, she can't turn it back on unless she runs "sudo rfkill unblock all". Is there anyway to force it to unblock the hard and soft blocks automatically when the switch is re-enabled?

Thanks!

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I'm not an expert but I think you should do a re-install with the WiFi switched on. Then it will detect the hardware and load the right stuff (technical term :) )
See my previous two posts for my experience with this problem.
I just checked and mine will turn off and on again from the touch sensitive panel on my laptop.

Thanks for the reply, but sadly we had it on when we did the initial install...so I don't know why it didn't work :/
