Broadband Bandluxe C278 not working on ttyUSB2

Postby elitrou on Tue May 01, 2012 4:55 pm

Hi guys. I'm relatively newbie, so please be gentle :)
I'm using Mint Lisa 12 Gnome 64-bit edition.
I get troubles using my Bandluxe C278 broadband USB modem.
I've done some workaround and found that it works flawlessly if it's fortunately mapped on ttyUSB0 port.
However, when mapped on other port, i.e. ttyUSB2, connection fails, although the device is recognized properly and the GSM signal is received fine (it's shown on NetworkManager).
I'm attaching the example:
http://pastebin.com/AdkrU1as
The only way I found meanwhile by try and error is unplug and plung it in to the USB once again, until I'm lucky to get it on ttyUSB0.
Then it reads:
http://pastebin.com/G3gfkEyq
It's quite frustrating to plug and unplug it, hoping that next time it would work. Any ideas how to make it work every time?
Thanks, Eli.

I believe this is a problem with modem-manager as opposed to network-manager, but there's no easy fix to the usb mapping issue unfortunately. It should be possible to create a udev rule to always map the modem to USB0, but it might be easier to not use network/modem manager at all and connect via other tools. See this rather long thread for possible suggestions.
