wireless not working

Postby bmike1 on Wed Jul 25, 2012 6:27 pm

I installed Mint 13 and everything was great except I couldn't transfer files between computers with the filemanager. So IO decided to try another OS that (last time I tried it) allowed me to do that. Well I loaded it but wireless didn't work. So I put Mint back on it but when I first ran it from CD my wireless still wouldn't come up. So I installed it thinking maybe it would after. So after the install and reboot it still wouldn't come up. But this time when I pressed F12 the indicator changed from orange (bad) to blue (good). That made me happy until I discovered it still wasn't online. I even opened a terminal and tried to ping www.google.com but there was no host.

So I loaded another OS (backtrack) (on same computer) and the wifi became active (verified with ping). Then I reloaded mint and wifi was active again (verified with firefox). Pretty cool.... huh?
