Hi
Im a relative newbie though I have been using mint10 for a couple of years and love it. I decided to upgrade to mint13 Cinnamon because I am no longer recieving updates and followed clem's howto guide with great success apart from my wifi no longer working. Because Im a little paranoid I dualbooted 13 and kept 10 on my laptop in case of just such an issue (Thank you whoever for making that so easy ) and the Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA driver is active in both systems but only works in mint10. I have tried the b43-fwcutter and b43-fwinstall methods as mentioned elsewhere in the forum both with and without LAN connected but to no avail.
Please give a baby step answer if poss as I'm not really techy. Im a middle aged joiner and my usual response to problems is to hit them with a hammer.
Edit
I have now tried the steps advised by AlbertP on viewtopic.php?f=53&t=105900 also to no avail
Edit 2
Also in perusing I checked my network connections and wireless doesnt even show as an option. I just get
wired
Sitecom USB 2 Ethernet on
Realtek (string of numbers) cable unplugged
Here is the data on my system

* V. querying DHCP...
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service smbd reload
Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the reload(8) utility, e.g. reload smbd
