I am intermediate when it comes to technical stuff, so be patient if I get something screw ball.

The default b43legacy drivers did not work for me, I did however find a package that worked here. Injection tests failed for my card, I found a kernel patch to make it work here.

I am willing to patch the kernel myself if I could get the source.

And your problems are????? What kind of Wifi adaptor you have??? Is it for your laptop??

If you want to download the source code of the kernel to compile your own, first follow the steps in this post to enable the Ubuntu source code repositories on your system: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=111839#p626867
