mint 14.1 internet doesn't connect at all

Hello everyone,

I have recently installed Linux mint 14.1 on a lenovo B590 and the internet connection does not work at all. Sometimes the computer is able to find a wireless network and even if it connects, what rarely happens, I get the "Server not found". But usually the process fails after entering the password.
When connected via LAN the server can not be found either.

I am new to Linux and not sure what might cause this problem. Please tell me if more information is neccessary.
