Netgear WNA3100 HELP!!!

Postby 3141592 on Sat Mar 09, 2013 3:02 am

I am trying to get a Netgear wna3100 wireless adapter to work but it's not working with my mint system. I have sucessfully installed the bcmwlhigh6 driver, however when I plug the device in it has a steady blue light and will not let me connect to wireless. I have used the keyboard to turn off the wireless card which has stopped working. Do I need to disable it internally?

Thanks in advance!

If you disable the wireless neither will work

If you are saying you have a built in device and a USB device
You may need to blacklist the built in device

Well if you are sure that Centrino device is broken?

You can add this line:

blacklist iwlwifi

By editing the blaclist.conf file

Only I don't know what version of Mint you are using. I have the Mate Desktop and my text editor is pluma
So for me to edit the file I do
Code: Select all
sudo pluma /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

If you use a different text editior, replace pluma with the text editor you use Eg: kwrite or gedit .....

Once you add the line, save
Then reboot

Removing the blacklist at a later date is just a reversal of the process

Thanks. I have gedit. This did blacklist the wifi card, however the device is still not working. I am returning it and using my ethernet cable for the time being. If you have any suggestions for what I could do to get my wireless running again, easily without breaking the bank, let me know.

And, thank-you so much for your help.

If you are prepared to purchase a USB dongle
Then search ebay or amazon for: Belkin F5D7050
