A solution for the intel 3945abg disconnecting

Postby coqi28 on Sun Dec 08, 2013 10:42 am

I going to share this simple solution i found out, which solves the problem of the intel 3945abg of connecting to a network only to disconnect it self 5 minutes later.
You see, the problem is that, for this network card, there apear to be 3 drivers working at the same time in a clean installation of linux mint (my case 16 mate desktop, but also happened in 15) using lsmod showed that:
Code: Select all
cfg80211              401436  3 iwl3945,iwlegacy,mac80211

What you have got to do, in a terminal sudo caja /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and blacklist iwlegacy and mac80211, and that's all, problem solved.

Hope this helps somebody, the reason i post this is because when you google for this problem, all the solutions you will find are 1 or 2 years old and will send you to modify a iwl3945.conf in the modprobe.d which doesn't exist in that folder
