install wifi on asus Z53E

Postby Erwin on Sat Mar 29, 2014 10:01 am

Hello,
I am a new Linux user. I have installed Linux Mint 13 Xfce on my older laptop (Asus Z53E) not next to windows XP, but I completely removed windows XP. The system works fine but has no wifi. I have read some topics about this problem. So I typed in the terminal things below. Can somebody help me getting the wifi working.

Thanks

Erwin

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Can you check via the connection icon in your taskbar (right click on it) just to make sure wifi is enabled? And get the output of this too....

Code: Select all
sudo lshw -C network
There's no Windows in my house. And it's a brighter and happier place now.
LMDE Mate, Cinnamon 17, KDE 17, Debian 7.6.0. Edit your first post and add SOLVED to the Subject if it's resolved.

Hello gtsfer,

Sorry it took me so long to answer. I had problems with our internet-provider, I had no access to certain internetsites, among this linux forum.

I checked if Wifi was enabled. I think it was. To be sure, it is enabled now and below the results.

thanks
