Trouble enabling Dlink DWA-130 USB WiFi adapter

Postby Bill-Horne on Sun May 04, 2014 10:43 pm

I have not succeeded in enabling wireless networking or using a Dlink DWA-130 USB wireless adapter (rev E) on my Acer 2301XC notebook running Linux Mint 13 with Xfce desktop. Apparently I installed the driver ok, but I can't find a way to enable wireless networking and the USB WiFi does not appear as a networking option that I can select. I also notice that the little amber coloured indicator on the Dlink adapter doesn't light up when plugged into the notebook.

I think I have not correctly edited the Dlink adapter's settings in the Edit Connections dialogues and think I missing something obvious in there. If someone notices what I'm missing or have entered incorrectly, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ;-)

(btw I can get Bluetooth to work, and even tether the notebook to a Nexus Android via Bluetooth; ethernet cable connection works fine.)
