Wifi problem with Ralink corp. RT3290

Post by snowbroth »

Hi everyone,

First time Mint user here, dualbooting with Windows 8. Mint recognizes my home wifi network, but fails to connect. I'm convinced it's a software issue since everything works fine on Windows.

I've attached the output of mintwifi.py below, as instructed.

Let me know if there's any other info I can provide to help!

Actually there are three possible resolutions and #3 is wait for LM17 to be released- within a month from the last I heard

But the actual solution is the same, the 3.11 kernel doesn't work with the Ralink RT3290 and IIRC LM17 will have the 3.13 kernel

Thank you! Installing kernel 3.12.8 did the trick.
