Wireless driver for HP ProBook 450 G2

Post by mhosny »

Greetings,

I've installed Linux mint 17 on my HP ProBook 450 G2 machine and the wireless module doesn't work.
When i open driver manager, it doesn't show also any options for wireless module.
Is there any driver that i can download and install for my wireless module to work?

Thanks in advance.

Mint 17 doesn’t read wifi card.
I got a HP 450 G2 and Mint 17 doesn’t have wifi driver.

I put a command inxi -Nx and I got that info:

Code: Select all

$ inxi -Nx

Network: Card-1: Realtek RTL8723BE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter port: 4000 bus-ID: 09:00.0
Card-2: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller
           driver: r8169 ver: 2.3LK-NAPI port: 5000 bus-ID: 08:00.0

Hi, tomkob.

I admit the inxi commandline options are bit confusing to put it mildly. Actually in order to get all relevant details in your case the correct commandline would have been

Code: Select all

inxi -Nnx
Yes, really, capital N, small n, small x. Used it just today. So I am sure about it.

Cheers,
Karl

I have exactly the same problem with the Probook 450 G2.
It looks like that there is no driver loaded for my Realtek Wifi Card.

I don't understand why, because in german Ubuntu Wiki they say that my Wifi Card RTL8723be is directly supported by the Linux Kernel since Ubuntu 14.04.
http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/WLAN/Karten/Realtek

In this bug thread there are a lot of solutions posted for fix connection drops with this wifi card.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1320070
But why is in my Linux Mint 17 no driver loaded at all?

Would appreciate very mouch some help!

I updated the kernel to 3.13.0.37 and it helped! The probook 450 g2 has now wifi.
I will watch if the connection stays stable up to now everything looks good!
If it will not be stable, I will backport the driver like described in the post before.

Thanks very much!!!

Hi!

I've got the same problem, impossible to connect to any WiFi.

inxi -Nnx
Network: Card-1: Realtek RTL8723BE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter driver: rtl8723be port: 3000 bus-ID: 09:00.0
IF: wlan0 state: up mac: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Card-2: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller
driver: r8169 ver: 2.3LK-NAPI port: 4000 bus-ID: 08:00.0
IF: eth0 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

inxi -Fxz
System: Host: name-HP-ProBook-450-G2 Kernel: 3.13.0-37-generic x86_64 (64 bit, gcc: 4.8.2)
Desktop: N/A Distro: Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca

Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Hello. I use ubuntu 14.04 with the HP ProBook 450 G2 and I had the same problem. The solution from JeremyB worked fine so far. Is there anything to be aware of with this solution? Are they problems with future kernel updates or something?
