perhaps also copy and paste this command into a terminal; and copy and paste the result back here
dmesg | grep tty
what happened to your novatel modem?

which country are you in?

[ 0.003045] console [tty0] enabled

That is the result of the command.

I am able to now use the novatel modem.After the usb mode switch,i installed the novatel linux drivers,its now detected as a normal modem

Am in Kenya.

so I wonder if you are using the orange modem on the same computer you installed usb_modeswitch on?

......because the tty0 means the device is not seen as a modem, just a storage device;

if the computer is the one with usb_modeswitch on it, can you type
lsusb
into a terminal, and copy and paste the results back here with the orange modem plugged in; and we see what device you have;

W#hen I run
dmesg | grep tty[/quote" the result is:
[ 0.000000] console [tty0] enabled
When I run
"lsusb"
it detects as:
