Visual effects change back to 'none'!!!

Postby dholl2000 on Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:14 am

Hi LM Forum,
I have in use LM 9 LTS installed on a box (dell gx520, 1GHz, 1.0GB RAM, onboard intel).

Compiz visual effects work great where selected via 'Gnome > control panel > desktop > visual effects' but after a restart/logoff and evenly randomly while logged in they change back to 'none' as in no effects in the desktop settings visual effects GTK window -

Is there any reason why this happens - the onboard gfx can easily handle the compiz requirements - no doubt what so ever; effects are as fluid as water with every thing thrown at it - Is this a common gnome thing?

Under slackware (my *nix background BTW is slack) KDE4 effects and XFCE compiz have no problem nor do they revert to 'none' either - any ideas forum as to why my LM 9 LTS vis'effects revert to none without any warning or seemingly valid reason?
* installed LM9LTS OEM edition BTW.

Thanks.
