I installed KDE on LMDE and have this strange issue:
Whenever I logout to KDM and login again (any user) all GTK aps aren't painted right: the windows are littered with black squares (the black text in them is rather hard to read). Especially Thunderbird, Chromium, Gimp, Synaptic have problems.
Better to show it in a picture:
Funny thing though: when I run any LibreOffice app, the above mentioned apps look fine again.
Did anyone had something similar?

Re: Bizarre GTK refresh problem
@zerozero: the link abnvolk posted suggests that this odd behavior is solved in KDE 4.8.
I'm going to try that out when I'm back from holidays.

Re: Bizarre GTK refresh problem
Schoelje,
the system i'm talking about was updated to testing, so i'm in 4.8.3 atm. the solution is elsewhere, but until the weekend i have no time to hack around

@zerozero
Could you post your sources.list?
That way I'll be able to reproduce what you've found.

Re: Bizarre GTK refresh problem
Check!
I'm going to look into this as soon as I can.
I think that when we solve this issue we'll have a really nice unofficial LMDE KDE.

Re: Bizarre GTK refresh problem
I created a symlink like dvchench suggested (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=48790):
and this issue did not accur anymore with KDE 4.7
By placing the symlink in /etc/skel any new user does not suffer the same issue.
Can anyone confirm this?

ln ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde4 ~/.gtkrc-2.0
