I've been hearing some good reviews of the latest KDE so I wanted to give it a try in my favorite distro (Mint).
Downloaded the Mint13/KDE 64-bit iso, burned to DVD, booted OK.
Opened a terminal, entered 'kate' and received multiple errors starting with
"QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave."
Received same error when I had earlier (optimistically) created a VM using Vbox.
I've run Mint 11 (Main edition) without error.
My machine is AMD Phenom 2 x4, SSD C: drive, SATA D: hd drive and E: DVD drive.
I spent a few hours with this while in Vbox and downloaded all the recommended upgrades with same error, so I regressed to DVD boot and still have the errors.
Any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this in Mint 13?
Edit: Found the following comments on KDE GIT site: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/103699/
"All KUniqueApplications issue the warning
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
when runngin with Qt-4.8.0 (qWarning in QDBusDefaultConnection ctor)"
"For the longer term, this problem is fixed in KDE Frameworks 5, by the replacement of KUniqueApplication with KDBusService, (which doesn't fork)."
So we should wait for KDE 5 ?
