In Firefox. Go here ==> http://www.linuxmint.com/searchengine_google.php

Follow directions.

Or not?

Weird? Some tricky scripting going on? Or something? Instead of clicking the above link.

Go to the original link posted above: ==> http://www.linuxmint.com/searchengines.php

Then scroll down to: 'Commercial Engines'. Click on 'Google' (6th icon from the left)

Now follow directions...

Hi
I had the same or similar problem ie no "add 'your chosen search engine' " in the drop down menu of search engines!
What I at the end found was that for some reason, after a fresh Mint 14 install, Firefox defaulted to be in private browsing mode.
After returning Firefox to it's normal mode, the "add 'search engine' reappeared whenever I chose a another on Mints search engine page.

Thanks for this! I never would've figured this out myself because I always use Firefox in Private browsing mode.

The need for non-private browsing mode to add search engines should really be mentioned on the search engines page. I ended up using Chromium for months just because I couldn't add Google search to FF.
