I am running Mint 13 KDE 32 bit.
When I open 'storage device manager', I keep getting a message that /dev/sdb? has not been configured. Do I want to configure it now?
I don't know if I want to configure it or not. because I am not sure what will happen if I say yes.
I have searched for a howto use 'storage device manager' but haven't found one. I don't see a help menu when sdm opens. Can someone point me in the right direction to find out how to use sdm?

Nothing will happen, unti You click "apply" button
Re: how to use storage device manager
Not to be obtuse, but what will happen if I click apply? That is what I need to know. I don't want to mess up one of my partitions.eMcE wrote:Nothing will happen, unti You click "apply" button

The basic question is: what You want to do with your partition?
Here is nice "how-to":

Re: how to use storage device manager
I apparently haven/t been clear in my question.
What can I do with Storage Device Manager? Or is there documentation somewhere about how to use SDM? Just curious. Not an earth shaking problem.

Re: how to use storage device manager
PySDM is a Storage Device Manager that allows full customization of hard disk mountpoints without manually access to fstab.

Re: how to use storage device manager
I have a similar problem to the first poster. I got and installed PySDM but it offers to "configure" a drive when all I want is to make sure is that it stays mounted permanently so apps loading automatically at boot or login will recognize and be able to work with the drive. I get nervous around partition handlers because I don't want to accidentally wipe out my data.
What should I do to make sure my sdb drive is mounted always in LM?
Context: I'm running LinuxMint Maya after years with regular Ubuntu. I have three drives. sda is for Windows XP, sdb for data (for Linux and Windows) and sdc is for Linux (the home folder is on sdc and I won't make sdb /home because it's an NTFS with data I need to access from both OSes). Don't tell me to change this because it worked fine in Ubuntu and should work fine in LM.
TIA

Re: how to use storage device manager <SOLVED>
Never mind. I got adventuresome and I said "yes" and "apply" (it wanted to mount it on /media which is where it should be) and it recognized the other drive, too.
Phew!
OK, so I'm a nervous Nelly. Sue me.
