Problem: When I log out of KDE (Mint 16 32bit) the screen turns black, cursor stays visible. Actually I should see the login screen and be able to re-login...
I am using KDE SC 4.12 from the Kubuntu backports, but as I never tried to log out before the update (always shut down or rebooted) it maybe also happend with KDE SC 4.11.3...
It reminds me of a KDM issue which can be solved by adding "TerminateServer=true" to the kdm configuration. Is there something similar for MDM?

Re: Screen black after logout
I have the same problem, but on mine, this situation occurs on boot-up. I can see the hard drive light still going and the OS is still obviously loading but it never goes all the way to the desktop. Mint 16 MATE. I eagerly await the solution to your problem.
