Hi,

I don't know if it's a bug but I think so.
I installed twice Linux Mint Elyssa KDE Edition and I got the problem each time:

Explanations:
- Insert and start the live DVD
- Launch the installationn from the desktop
- Select French, time zone, keyboard FR, etc...
- Installation ok at this point.

Reboot and KDM have a wrong keyboard selection, it is in US :-(

The solution is to use the command line in order to change "us" to "fr":
ctrl+alt+F1
login (keyboard should be good in console mode)
cd /etc/X11
sudo nano xorg.conf
In the InputDevice, Generic Keyboard, change XkbLayout "us" ou "fr"
ctrl+o (enter)
ctrl+x
/etc/init.d/kdm restart

This normaly fix the problem.

bye,
Xavier

Sorry just a little correction:
At the end, in order to restart the interface you have to enter:
# sudo /etc/init.d/kdm restart
(add sudo before the command)
Else you'll not be authorized to restart the service.

bye.

Keyboard set up - Mint KDE CE 5 Elyssa
(August -05/2008 RC1)
When i installed and run Mint 5 KDE CE RC1 Elyssa, my brazilian
keyboard was as US Layout. I didn't upgrade yet to the final edition.
I only deleted the folders that were duplicate in my /home.

Brazilian Portuguese language.

Steps:

Start menu > sistem configuration (Kde control center) >
region/accessibility > keyboard layout

Select and remove US layout

Choose your Keyboard model from the list above
Select your country > add > aplly

It worked good for me.

Cheers
Roberto
