Mint 6 KDE won't install

Have purchased a Disk of Mint 6 KDE but can't get it to install on my Acer 530 Travelmate

Have successfully run earlier editions of Mint KDE but this time I can get the Splash screen and load as far as the Disk, Tools, Globe etc icon at which point he screen goes blank although I can hear the DVD drive working. Eventually I get a message "Remove CD and press ENTER" but when I do the laptop reboots into Windows XP  (installed to check if the DVD drive was working properly).

Tried booting in Compatability Mode and I get the following messages:
"NEPOMUK DATA STORAGE
Converting Nepomuk to a new backend. This might take a little time
NEPOMUK DATA STORAGE
Successfully converted Nepomuk data to the new back end
NEPOMUK DATA STORAGE
Rebuilding Nepomuk fulltext search index for new features
NEPOMUK DATA STORAGE
Rebuilding Nepomuk fulltext search index for new features"

at this point the background screen goes white with the above messages still on it, the drive stops working and nothing more happens.

Did a Google for NEPOMUK and it seems to be something related to KDE4. I have now dragged out an old disk of BIANCA KDE edition(I gave my Daryna version away to another convert) and it loads fine so I am guessing that KDE 4.2 is not playing nicely with my hardware. Currently I am downloading a torrent of Mint 5 KDE to see if that will work OK.
I am a Numpty when it comes to sorting this sort of problem but I'll see how Mint 5 goes and if that works then maybe someone can help sort Mint 6 as I really would like to get the latest and greatest.

Ran PCLOS on the laptop for a while and MINT KDE(Daryna)on my desktop and Mint wins hands down so I really do want to try Mint 6 :(

I would say a faulty DVD is one option even if it's a purchased one ...
But your Travelmate may not like KDE4
Search for that model and KDE4
To help you we need to know a little about the hardware
---------
You have to tell us more facts.
We also need to know a bit about all your hardware.
Run " lspci " in a terminal and post here (to avoid misunderstanding - the first character is a minor L and you copy by marking with the mouse and then right click)
Some wifi and possibly built in sound can be connected to USB even if they are internal - if you suspect you have one of these run " lsusb " in a terminal.
Also tell us if this is using mint4win or not, quite important
This is a standard answer so it may not be fully applicable to your situation

Sorry - should have given more info on the hardware. I'll run lspci as soon as I have a working version of Mint on my laptop and post it. I am pretty sure that it is KDE4.2 but a google with Acer 540 Travelmate has not thrown up anything yet

I am downloading Mint 5 as I type so I'll try that first and see if it works. If it does I'll have another try with (hopefully) a known good DVD of MInt6.

Will post outcome and take thin gs from there

Just in case you are wondering I am typing this on my Desktop running Daryna
