keep on posting, we need the help.
Yes - please do
Reading through this again I see something that needs to be asked
Have you tried a data DVD that you did not burn yourself - from a magazine or such
Also - there are drives that are very sensitive - they may not cope with a DVD-RW but with DVD-R or DVD+R
There are two flavors of DVD R disks and only one might work

HI husse, glad to see you are back :)

and yes boo we do need you:)

The only data dvd I have that I didn't burn myself is the win xp dvd,
I don't know if that is a dvd-r or dvd+r

I am trying to get a hold of a dvd-r to test. I used a dvd-rw on this burn.

As soon as I have the time I will get back (probably the WE)

Cheers

Just to add to this little discussion, DVD-R and -RW are read easily by more drives than +R and +RW.

I'm trying to clarify this issue because a lot of people aren't aware of it. Usually it doesn't affect computers but set-top DVD players, but it can indeed affect data drives. It's all to do with error correction and (Zoned) Constant Linear Velocity vs. Constant Angular Velocity, but I can never remember which is which and all the detail. What I do know is that hyphen (-) media is more compatible with dvd players than plus (+) media.

Also, I have found that at least on some of my systems, burning the data over the network (SMB or sshfs mount) leaves me with a less readable disk than burning locally. I believe this to be due to the dvd writing tools enabling burn-proof as the burn does not error, just the verify, and not always that, but a disk that is slow or has many read-errors. Burning locally or at low speed (is this where the myth of low burning speeds being better has come from perhaps) creates disks that are much more readable and don't have the weird concentric circles pattern on the data side.

Just some tips based on my own experiences.

Well guys I got it running.

It was a DVD-RW issue with a stock DVD-R disc it boots up just fine.

I'll be playing with it now :D
