Can't change splash and can't reach Qnap TS209 PRO

Hi people,

I'm quite new to Mint, but i've worked a few years with Ubuntu by now.

1.
I want to change my splash screen. I press the "get new themes" button, look for a good one and press install.... and again... and again... It seems there's nothing happening :( For some reason it just won't get the new splash... Quite annoying though.

2.
I want to connect to my Qnap TS209PRO, but mint doesn't :( I went to "Network" and then to "TS209PRO". There are 2 folders. "TS209PRO" and ΅TS209PRO - SMB". When I try the first one, it redirectes me to the IP of the Qnap in my webbrowser. And the second one doesn't even do anything at all! Quite annoying...

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t nfs IPQNAP:/Qmultimedia /mnt/Qmultimedia
gives

Code: Select all

mount.nfs: mount system call failed.
I'm working with Mint 9, and all the updates.

Oh, and is there a way to put the minimize, close and maximize buttons to the left? That works better imo ;)

Do you mean the Grub splash screen or the login splash screen?
For Grub2 splash screen see HERE.
For the Login screen, I've read posts that Ubuntu Tweak is being used.

for the buttons, go to > Menu > Preferences > Desktop Settings
Click the Windows button in the left column and then change the Buttons Layout dropdown.
