This makes nearly all GTK themes completely unuseable, which really sucks because I still use some of them (firefox and thunderbird come immediately to mind). I tried changing the theme via KDE's control center (no effect) and with gtk-chtheme (which changed the button shapes and things like that, but everything was still black).
Any ideas? This problem occured when I installed anthy and ibus and rebooted, but I doubt that installing those programs are related to this problem.

Re: [MintKDE] GTK themes broken; everything is black
Try installing kcm-gtk and using that to change the theme.
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=48790
So, kcm-gtk edits the file ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde4 file, but gtk looks for setting info in ~/.gtkrc-2.0
this is easily solved by creating a symlink. Basically, run this command in your terminal:
Code: Select all
ln ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde4 ~/.gtkrc-2.0
Re: [MintKDE] GTK themes broken; everything is black
Fixed the problem by upgrading to kde 4.8 using the backport ppa. It'll probably break every future update, but whatever. Thanks for your help.
