IN LMDE their should be the standard (gnome) wireless-manager already installed. If not can be installed from repos (if a proprietary wifi card, you'll will need to find how to install. No Jockey App in LMDE!).

alot of XFCE user prefer 'WICD' (in repos also) and their are others (search repos with apt/synaptic/(Mints) software manager.

Hint use only one WIFI manager (may conflict with other)

I've installed WICD before but I don't think it worked because I had the XFCE wireless manager on there. How Do I get rid of that before installing WICD?

1.find one not want in synaptic/apt/mint's software manager ect.
2.right click select uninstall/uninstall comand/hit uninstall

make sure auto-start in settings>session and startup, so the applet shows in panel (sys tray)
